Violet Vonder Haar was born in 1988 in an old run-down farmhouse on the
banks of splice creek to a hippie riverman father and an organic gardener, herbalist mother. She grew up listening to
the diverse music of the local community radio and the folk musicians of the Missouri river valley. At a very early age she felt compelled to
add her own voice to the mix, after attending a children's environmental concert. She first took to the stage at
the age of eight at an Earth Day festival and has never looked back.
She is currently working toward a bachelors
degree in Music Education at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri. She is evolving each and every
day into a stronger musician and woman with the lessons life is offering her.
Her unique percussive rhythmic styling and pure voice is a perfect match. She offers a sound that is new to
the folk scene, capturing an essence of a range of musical influences. She writes on a variety of subjects, from her environmental
concerns to family life and relationships from the unique perspective of a young woman growing up in America in the twenty-first
century, with twentieth century ideals.
